PDF Watermark adds text or image watermarks to every page of a PDF document. Position the watermark as a diagonal stamp, header, or footer with adjustable opacity, font, size, and colour. Watermarking protects intellectual property, marks document drafts, and prevents unauthorised redistribution. Processing runs fully in-browser using pdf-lib.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the watermark be removed by the recipient?

A basic text watermark embedded as a PDF annotation can potentially be removed by someone with PDF editing tools. For stronger protection, use a flattened watermark (merged into the page content) which requires redrawing the page to remove. This tool embeds watermarks in the content stream for better durability.

Does watermarking affect printing quality?

No significant impact. The watermark is rendered as vector text or an embedded image at high resolution. Print quality of the underlying content is unchanged.

Can I apply different watermarks to different pages?

The current tool applies the same watermark uniformly to all pages. For per-page watermarks with different content, a custom solution using pdf-lib programmatically would be needed.

Can I watermark a password-protected PDF?

No. You must remove the password protection first (use the PDF Unlock tool), then add the watermark, and optionally re-protect the watermarked PDF using the PDF Protect tool.
