About PDF Translator

Upload any PDF and translate the full text into one of 10 major languages — including Tamil, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, and Russian. Text extraction runs in your browser with pdf.js; translation happens via the MyMemory public API; the rebuilt PDF with the translated text is rendered locally and downloaded directly. The original PDF never leaves your device — only the extracted plain text is sent for translation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this support Tamil and Hindi?

Yes. Tamil, Hindi, and 8 other major languages are supported. Proper Unicode fonts (Noto Sans Tamil / Devanagari) are used so characters render correctly in the output PDF.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF stays in your browser. Only the extracted plain text is sent to MyMemory's translation API. The rebuilt PDF is generated locally.

Is the translation perfect?

MyMemory is a free public translation service — quality is good for general text but not a substitute for a professional translator for legal or medical content.

Is there a file size limit?

MyMemory rate-limits at ~5000 characters per IP per day anonymously. Large PDFs may hit this limit; keep source files short for best results.

Why does my output PDF look different from the original?

The tool extracts text only and re-lays it out cleanly — original formatting, images, and positions are not preserved. This is a text-focused translator, not a layout-preserving tool.
